Language Defaults and Disables PDF Print E-mail

I just recently realized a problem with the language system on LiveZilla...first off it is a great feature but I don't think all of the languages should be active by default. I've been having people visit my site from many various countries and a few don't speak English or only speak it well enough to say "I don't speak English". smiley I've had people speaking Russian, Persian, Turkish, Arabic and more...the problem with that is that the language system of LiveZilla supports all of those languages which confuses my visitors as I myself only speak English and a bit of Japanese so none of those languages are any use to me and just frustrate my users when they initially think that I will be able to speak it.

This tutorial is going to show you how to disable the various languages you don't support as well as how to set your server default language if you do support multiple languages.

- News for this bug on 07/18/2010 -
This problem has been addressed with the release of 3.1.8.5. So this solution will apply to only 3.1.8.4 and older.

-------------------------------------------------

Setting Default Server Language:

  1. Open the LiveZilla Server Admin and select the "Server Configuration" option.
  2. Click on the "Next" button.
  3. Inside Server Configuration, select the tab marked "Server Settings"
  4. There is a setting labeled "Default Language (ISO, two-letter):", change this value to the two-letter code corresponding to your preferred language. *
  5. Click on the "OK" button to save your settings.

Note* - scroll to the bottom of this post for a list of languages supported and their two-letter codes.

How to disable non-supported languages: (screenshots are using the FileZilla, ftp client)

  1. Navigate to your "_language" folder on your web-server.

  2. Create a new directory labeled "disable".

  3. Move all of the languages that you don't support into that folder.

As you can see in my example, all languages except for English have been disabled.
