What is the Mobile Web and how does it effect me?

The mobile web is basically the same thing as the regular web but it is for mobile devices like Smartphones (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, WebOS, etc), Tablets (iPad, Android, RIM, B&N Nook, Kindle Fire, etc) and other devices.

This move to the Mobile Web doesn't necessarily effect absolutely every type of business but absolutely every type of business could utilize it and benefit from it.

Lets take a restaurant business for example, it would be incredibly detrimental to not have a mobile version of their website. Potential customers who want to see a menu, using a smartphone, may have to download a PDF file...which means they have to find the download, start the download, wait for it to download (and on mobile, speeds are not that fast), find the file on their phone, open it up in a PDF reader app but if they don't have an app for that they would have to go to their phone's App Store and find one, download that, install that and go from there. It doesn't have to be like that though, with a mobile optimized website customers could easily see their menu with only a few simple clicks on the site, which keeps customers interested in going to your restaurant which in turn ensures they are customers.
